Remember the past.
Remember when we swam with the fish.
Remember when we felt our place in the natural order of the world.
Creatures lost in their own worlds
Fish in their darkness, cocooning themselves from unseen dangers.
We peer into their worlds, and see them as we may see ourselves – crowded, blind.
The patterns of the universe duplicate themselves in scales and waves.
The fish follow form and relent to silent forces.
Never fully awake, never fully asleep.
I am obsessive about lines, shapes, and color, and I am entranced by the effects of light and shadow. Drawing and painting are my tools for exploring their meaning. I want my work to tell a story, and to bring the viewer into my world.
My process is based on direct observation. My main focus is on the things around me. I paint alot of still-lifes because I am intrigued by the shapes and colors of everyday things. I don’t focus on the objects themselves, but instead on the effects of light and shadow.
